Moving away from cigarettes, our primary focus is on smoke‑free products that do not involve the burning of tobacco, which is the primary source of the harms of smoking cigarettes. As a scientific writer, you will be creating science‑related content for multiple channels, such as pmiscience.com, which is the public repository for our scientific publications and useful information about our research on our smoke‑free products. You'll also be responsible for drafting compelling content for social media on the same topics. The scientific writer will be able to take world‑class research and turn it into inspiring and engaging articles, posts, and other informational content that help the wider scientific community, regulators, journalists, science communicators, and non‑experts understand our latest research. You will work within a team of content creators to generate content that provides a brilliant understanding of scientific research, clarifies how that research is carried out, and contains all the proof points needed to support the scientific narratives. You'll tell our science stories with passion, but without over‑claiming or exaggerating results. This is a complex role that requires faithful attention to detail and accuracy, identification of the story underlying the science, and an ability to translate that science to plain English for our varied audiences. Not just balancing but excelling at all three of these aspects in a polished writing style is key to success in this role. Key Activities Writing new and editing existing articles and other web content for PMIScience.com Writing new and editing existing information in science‑related assets and infographics to be shared on PMIScience.com and other PMI‑owned outlets. Creating original scientific content specifically for social media channels, adapting existing materials where appropriate, and ensuring all posts are tailored to each platform's audience, format, and engagement best practices. Editing and revising your content according to the feedback from fellow communicators, PMI scientists, and colleagues from legal. Explaining detailed research to the wider content creation team. Accuracy checking for the wider content creation team. Must Have An inquisitive and scientific mind. Native speaker level command of the English language. At least 3 years' experience developing a portfolio of articles and other content explaining science for a non‑expert audience on a wide range of scientific topics. Experience reading and disseminating summaries of detailed research papers for a non‑expert audience. Nice to Have Experience creating scientific content for social media, with an understanding of platform‑specific strategies. Experience collaborating on visual content and ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences is a plus. Experience working in an international environment and in cross‑functional teams. Experience working in a data management system, such as Veeva Promo Mats, is a plus. Experience working within a scientific organization or science journal is a plus. Journalistic training or similar is a plus. Scientific qualifications to degree level or equivalent is a plus.
