The Institute for Computational Engineering ICE deals with demanding challenges in the areas of scientific computing, material modeling, process simulation and the industrial application of artificial intelligence (Industrial AI). We are looking for you as a Senior Research Data Scientist | ML Engineer in the field of Industrial Artificial Intelligence (Industrial AI %) immediately or by arrangement.
As a Senior Research Data Scientist in the "Industrial AI" competency area, you will act as an expert in the areas of machine learning and deep learning, supporting our partners in application-oriented research and development projects. In your role, you will assume project responsibility and the technical management of scientific project staff. This interesting job offers you the freedom to work on the latest developments, acquire research projects and thus develop innovative AI solutions for a wide range of industries.

Your tasks:
  • Leading and implementing research and development projects in the field of Industrial AI. Promoting collaboration between academic institutions and our industrial partners.
  • Support in the acquisition of research and service projects
  • Coordination of collaboration in interdisciplinary teams as well as leadership and mentoring of junior data scientists and doctoral students.
  • Active development of the Industrial AI competence area through the establishment of state-of-the-art AI methods and technologies
  • Publication of research results in renowned journals and presentation at international conferences


Your qualification:
  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) or Master's degree (M.Sc.) in computer science, mathematics, data science or a related field with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Proven experience as a leader of development or research projects in the field of Industrial AI, from conception to implementation
  • Excellent expertise in machine learning, especially in neural networks, natural language processing, time series analysis, image recognition and generative models
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant programming languages ​​for AI (such as Python, SQL, C++ or Java) as well as ML/DL frameworks (such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras) and common MLOps processes (CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, model training, validation & monitoring)
  • Good networking in industry with experience in acquiring funding for collaboration between academic and industrial partners
