Internship Natural Catastrophe Modelling/Pricing

You will join the Property Treaty Underwriting team, made up of underwriters and actuaries involved mainly in European natural catastrophe business, ideally from July/August 2024 to January 2025. The successful candidate will become part of a motivated and open-minded team that takes pride in a collaborative and flexible work mode which is based on trust and support.
Your responsibilities
- Assist the Property underwriters in pricing and Nat Cat modelling of European treaty reinsurance, with a focus on the peak treaty renewal period at the end of the year
- Quantitative analysis of client claims information, exposures and portfolios
- Support annual portfolio accumulation process with our pricing actuaries
- Participate actively in Munich Re Group internal and external Nat Cat and pricing projects
- University degree in quantitative field or natural sciences
- Good analytical skills and a flair for numbers
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Experience in statistics and probabilistic modelling
- Knowledge in natural hazards and/or Nat Cat Modelling would be a plus
- Programming experience desirable (R, Python, SQL, Excel power tools)
- Team player with good communications skills
- Proactive and innovative in solving problems
- Flexible, reliable, exact and organized
- Highly motivated with an ability to work in an international environment
- Fluent in English (additional European languages would be a plus)
