Clarunis University Abdominal Center Basel is the joint competence center of the Claraspital and the University Hospital Basel for all patients who require treatment in the abdominal area. Clarunis combines the expertise, research activities and number of patients treated from both hospitals in order to further increase and improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment.

Clarunis University Abdominal Center Basel is the joint competence center of the Claraspital and theUniversity Hospital Basel for all patients who require treatment in the abdominal area.Clarunis combines the expertise, research activities and the number of patients treated from both hospitals in order to further increase and improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment.The research group Digital Surgery Lab ) at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel aims to revolutionize surgery and improve the quality of treatment for patients through digitization and artificial intelligence.In order to advance the Data-Driven Surgery project and to coordinate the development of a data platform (Surgical AIplatform) for the Department of Surgery at the University Hospital Basel, we are looking for aData Scientist by agreement.

Data Scientist %)


Your tasks are:
  • Transdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians and engineers
  • Coordination of the development of the Surgical AI platform with external providers
  • Creating structures for collecting, storing and archiving data
  • Analysis of medical data sets (image, video, audio, text) using deep learning


You bring with you:
  • Doctorate in Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering
  • Project management skills and experience
  • A strong background in network architecture and machine/deep learning
  • Competence in programming in Python and experience with common deep learning libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
