  • You are a University Degree holder with 3 to 5 years of experience within trade and / or communications surveillance
  • You have an Excellent understanding of market abuse risks in the trading environment, with preferred knowledge of commodity markets
  • Experience in analysing alerts and conducting risk-based, event-driven surveillance
  • Strong understanding of surveillance data requirements and interplays
  • Awareness of the elements required for a comprehensive and robust surveillance operating model
  • Confidence when interacting with traders and an ability to build and nurture constructive working relationships with business partners and in/external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the regulatory drivers for surveillance, e.g. MAR, REMIT, MiFID etc.
You also need to:
  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic, pro-active and a team player
  • Be ready to work in a rapidly evolving trading environment but where rules must be adhered at any time to in order to strengthen controls, prevent potentially unlimited fines, and reduce errors & breaches.
  • Have an independent and flexible work attitude and able to work well under pressure, delivering high quality work within set deadlines.
  • Have a problem-solving mindset.
  • Have very good written and verbal communication skills in English, knowledge in French is a plus.

ActivitiesWhat you will do
Reporting to a Senior Market Compliance officer, and working to the highest standards of work ethic, your main missions will be to:
COMPLIANCE MONITORING: - Monitor and analyse TGP's activities on financial and physical markets (daily trade surveillance, daily communications, daily compliance indicators...) - Monitor & Analyse alerts and conduct risk-based, event-driven surveillance - Ensure TGP's activities and processes are in line with applicable financial regulations as well as Company trading policies. - Follow any relevant regulatory change and its impact to the company in relation to trade surveillance. - Maintain & control the surveillance systems in relation to data quality, calibration, metrics, quality assurance, procedures etc. - Assist responses to external inquiries regarding trading activities thanks to the surveillance systems.
COMPLIANCE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT - Collaborate and share best practices with the Market Compliance team. - Seize opportunities of creating efficiencies and improving processes. - Imagine and develop new tools to improve internal controls and enhance reliability of our surveillance systems.
COMPLIANCE CORPORATE CULTURE - Participate in the training of Company staff on compliance requirements and TGP's standards, policies and procedures related to trading compliance. - Contribute to ensuring a robust culture of compliance with legal requirements.

Context & Environment
We have an exciting new opportunity to join our TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) Middle Office Team in Geneva as a Compliance Surveillance Analyst.


TotalEnergies Gas & Power Limited installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together teams around all trading activities in power, gas, sulphur and renewables across Europe and the UK. Fast-paced, dynamic, and international trading environment where the knowledge, expertise and collaboration are the roots of a collective success. This role interfaces with several internal departments (Front-Office, Middle-Office and Risk, Operations, Legal, IT...).



The Compliance team is dedicated to contribute to the protection of TotalEnergies Gas & Power Limited (TGP) by helping to ensure that its market activities are in accordance with the applicable laws and internal rules.

This is an opportunity to join and contribute to the design, development, implementation, and execution of the surveillance programme.

Whilst the primary responsibility is conducting surveillance analysis at an expert level, responsibilities also include providing support on the implementation of surveillance systems (Trade and Communications), partnering with compliance colleagues, IT, surveillance vendors. You will also contribute to the delivery and execution of the operating model, e.g. data quality, calibration, metrics, quality assurance, procedures, etc.

This role sits within Market Surveillance team, which forms part of the TGP Compliance Team.

The Trading division in Geneva is responsible for optimising the purchase & sales portfolios of gas, electricity, CO2 emissions, dry bulk, and LNG in all recognised markets worldwide, in compliance with the Company trading guidelines.
