The Head of Data Analytics, and Innovation is a strategic leadership role within Sandoz's Technology organization, responsible for steering all facets of data management, analytics, and reporting to align with and support business objectives, while driving innovation in data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will act as a catalyst for change, steering our innovation greenhouse—a dynamic and collaborative environment where cutting-edge ideas are cultivated and nurtured into transformative business solutions

Major accountabilities:

Drive Strategic Transformation:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Data, Analytics and Innovation strategy that aligns with the organization's business goals.
  • Partner with Business to build data-driven products and insights that support decision-making and drive business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure successful architectural design, support development, and delivery of analytics products.

Architect the Future:

  • Lead the implementation of modern Data, Analytics, and AI platforms, including the selection and integration of relevant toolsets.
  • Construct data architecture using modern tools to convert business needs into data and system requirements.
  • Develop and implement enterprise data governance processes, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance.
  • Drive data architecture for agile and iterative implementations across systems and platforms, ensuring alignment with security requirements and business needs.

Champion Innovation Greenhouse:

  • Establish strategic partnerships and frameworks that extend innovation beyond daily operations, enhancing our competitive edge and business agility while ensuring projects align with strategic goals and deliver substantial ROI.
  • Drive innovation within the digital analytics function by exploring new analytics techniques and technologies, including leveraging AI and Machine Learning.
  • Establish data architecture frameworks and standards to support scalable and efficient data management.

Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing technology team.
  • Plan talent development initiatives to equip the team with necessary skills.

Risk Management and Compliance Adherence:

  • Develop and enforce a comprehensive risk management strategy to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across technology platforms and business operations, ensuring proactive risk resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and industry standards across technology solutions, updating and maintaining protocols to adapt to new regulations.

Major Accountabilities

​Drive Strategic Transformation:

  • Conduct regular strategic reviews of the data and analytics platforms to ensure they align with the changing business environment and continue to support decision-making effectively.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to business units on the effective use of data-driven products and insights to enhance business outcomes.

Architect the Future:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of scalable data architectures and business intelligence interfaces that facilitate robust data management and analytics capabilities.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of back-end data structures to drive enterprise reporting and ensure they integrate seamlessly with business intelligence platforms.
  • Implement and manage ETL routines that enforce Sandoz's business rules, ensuring data integrity and compliance with governance frameworks.
  • Regularly update and optimize IT processes to align with the latest technological advancements and data governance standards.

Champion Innovation Greenhouse:

  • Lead cross-technology efforts to identify and pilot advanced analytical methods and AI use cases that could increase profit margins and improve operational efficiency.
  • Foster an environment that supports innovative ideation and execution, allowing the organization to explore and implement cutting-edge data solutions beyond conventional business processes.

Leadership and Development:

  • Implement talent development programs to build essential skills.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Optimize Cost Management

  • Regularly review the Technology budget, adjusting forecasts and allocations to respond to changing organizational needs and market conditions.

Risk Management and Compliance Adherence:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks in technology projects and operations.
  • Review and revise compliance protocols regularly to ensure ongoing adherence to changing legal and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements:
Work Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in digital & data analytics, with a strong background in cloud-based platforms.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing digital analytics strategies and platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into data and system requirements. Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and drive business results through data-driven insights.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a passion for developing talent and fostering a collaborative team culture. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive change and innovation.
