R&D Senior Electrical Engineer (80 – 100%)

As an R&D Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll leverage your extensive skills and technical expertise to develop, enhance, and validate UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) products using the most advanced technology available. Your goal is to meet the specifications of the mission-critical power protection product market. Reporting to the R&D Hardware Chapter Lead based in Quartino, Switzerland, you'll play a significant role in initiatives related to ABB's Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) products.

Your responsibilities
  • Maintain awareness of state-of-art technology, ABB products, and technical drivers for R&D projects.
  • Identify factors creating customer value and improve operations accordingly.
  • Follow quality standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and customer requirements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for issues found during R&D testing.
  • Coordinate with teams for issue resolution and contribute to process improvement.
  • Write technical reports and publications, ensure BOM meets contractual obligations, and coordinate CR and ECN activities.
  • Contribute innovative ideas, mentor junior team members, and provide technical support.
  • Build networks for information exchange and support organizational goals.
Your background
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in in Electrical Engineering, as well as more than five years work experience in electrical engineering.
  • Must have experience working with electrical systems or demonstrate the aptitude to learn complex power electronic systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ECN's (Engineering Change Notifications), BOM's (Bill of Materials), and documentation systems.
  • Experience with failure investigations and Root Cause & Corrective Action Analysis (RCCA).
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile methodology is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
