Deliverables

Output 1: On request from the CSR Unit and in direct communication with the countries, guide countries on how to apply the national GLASS-AMU methodology, screen, correct and validate annual AMU data using the WHO-AMU Excel template and provide feedback on the data for correction. Deliverable Report summarizing the questions raised by countries on the implementation of the national AMU methodology and the responses provided to them.
Expected by: mid-July-mid-JanuaryDeliverable Short guideline document is compiled for countries with practical step-by-step guidelines for data validation before data reporting to GLASS.
Expected by: July-August Deliverable The consultant worked with a selected (min. 15 and max. 20) number of countries to prepare or validate AMU data in the WHO-AMU Excel template, including identifying methodological issues, providing potential solutions for correction, and following up with countries to ensure that problems are resolved before data are submitted to the GLASS-IT platform.
Expected by: mid-July-end of December Output 2: On request from the CSR unit perform the post-upload data validation and consolidation process by revising the country validation reports generated by the SEL team and, when needed, perform more advanced analysis to identify the possible quality issues. Deliverable Data from a selected number of countries (min. 10 and max. 15) are fully validated in the platform according to the following steps: Country Validation Report are screened, potential problems and missing data contextual information are discussed with the CSR team and clarified with countries.

Qualifications, experience, skills and languages

Educational Qualifications:

Essential:

Advanced degree in pharmacy, medicine, or public health.

Desirable:

Advanced degree in Drug Utilization Research.

Experience:

Essential:

Proven experience in the field of either pharmacoepidemiology, medicines' procurement, supply or medicines market. At least 10 years of experience in surveillance of antimicrobial use at national level, including collecting, validating and reporting medicine-level antimicrobial use data applying the GLASS methodology for national AMU monitoring (or equivalent). Work in or with low and/or middle-income countries (as per World Bank classification) in the last 10 years.

Desirable:

Proven experience of national AMU data analysis for guiding antimicrobial procurement or stewardship activities. Previous experience with help-desk activities to support LMIC countries preparing and validating medicine-level AMU data for reporting to a supranational surveillance system.

Skills:

Proven knowledge of the ATC/DDD methodology for monitoring AMU. Proven analytical and data management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Languages required:

Essential:

Expert knowledge of English.

Location

Off site: Home-based.

Travel

The consultant is not expected to travel.

Remuneration and budget (travel costs are excluded):

Band level C - USD per day.

Living expenses (A living expense is payable to on-site consultants who are internationally recruited):
