Internship

Improving Interference Mitigation Mechanism (Internship)

  • Description

Interference, whether intentional or non-intentional, is a threat for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-based navigation devices and can result in large navigation errors or a denial of service.

Therefore, receiver manufacturers need to develop several mitigation layers to maximize the resistance of their devices to such events and maximize the continuity of the navigation service.

  • Among the various interference mitigation methods, filtering mechanisms are particularly important. However, they need to be designed and used in an appropriate manner to ensure that they provide sufficient performance in all reception conditions. With this respect, this internship project will contribute to the investigation and possible evolution of ublox's signal processing mitigation mechanisms against interference.
  • The internship is expected to last 4 to 6 months. It will take place in Thalwil, Switzerland. The starting date can be discussed.
  • Steps
  • Review of basics of GNSS signals and signal processing (if needed)
  • Review of the interference threat to GNSS signals
  • Familiarization with some interference mitigation mechanisms
  • Contribution to the improvement of performance
  • Performance analysis
  • Documentation
    Required Skills:
  • Student with a Master or Bachelor degree
  • Background in mathematics or scientific discipline
  • Previous experience of using MATLAB
  • Analytical problemsolving skills
  • Selfmotivated and able to work independently but within a global team
  • Good understanding of GNSS technology is a benefit
  • Experience and/or interest in navigation systems is a 'plus'
