Join us as a Database Engineering Team Lead in Zurich.

  • With your database infrastructure background, you'll be leading a team responsible to design, implement, administer and monitor a range of databases.

What you'll do:


You'll have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills as you manage a team of 4 staff responsible to design, implement, administer and monitor a range of databases as part of the IT Infrastructure department.

You'll be expected to interface with the business, oversee projects and ensure all members of your team are working on the right thing at the right time to keep databases in order.

The type of databases you'll deal with will primarily be, but not be limited to, Oracle, SQL and PostgreSQL, both in stand-alone and high availability configurations, as well as various native cloud DB services.

Databases you have responsibility for will be both on-premise and consumed as a service from both private and public cloud providers.


You'll also:

  • Maintain close ties with other IT Infrastructure teams and the broader IT Services functions
  • Ensure stable, performant and secure operation of the database infrastructure

The skills you'll need:


We're looking for a technically skilled professional with a minimum of 4 years working experience in managing and developing teams responsible for database infrastructure.

You'll also need experience in resource monitoring with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and its analysis on Oracle database servers, as well as tools like Data Guard, RMAN and Oracle RAC.

Along with MS SQL cluster technologies and complex T-SQL queries experience, you'll bring a good knowledge of Linux (primarily RHEL) and Wintel server operating systems.

On top of this, you'll need to have higher university degree or equivalent.

You'll also need:

  • Experience with high availability solutions, disaster recovery technologies and integration methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of LAN zones and firewall principles
  • Experience in working with ITIL processes for Incident, Change
- and Problem Management

  • Experience of working in teams and designing new solutions with other engineers and teams
  • Understanding of structured query language (SQL)
  • Good technical understanding of a complex IT Infrastructure (> 500 mixed Linux and Wintel servers + native cloud services)
  • Fluency in English and German
