Your mission
To strengthen our bioprocessing Team at Evolva we are currently looking for a Upstream Scientist.

Your mission is to contribute to the screening and characterization of metabolically engineered strains along with early-stage bioprocess design and development steps.

*Your tasks:

  • Setup and execute bioprocessrelated experiments to support the screening and physiological characterization of metabolically engineered microbial strains
  • Design, development, and optimization of scalable bioprocesses to efficiently screen out highyield producing strains with the desired attributes and performance
  • Monitoring and control of bench scale bioreactors while conducting offline process analytics
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot bioreactor cultivation runs at bench scale
  • Review, analyze and interpret process data to understand strain performance
  • Effectively communicate results while providing technical recommendations and feedback to support strain engineering and business activities
  • Documentation of experimental data and preparation of technical reports
  • Contribute to project plans, technical scope and timelines while liaising with Strain Engineering and AC teams within a crossfunctional team structure
  • Conduct literature review, keeping abreast of the latest technologies in the upstream bioprocessing field
  • Contribute to keep lab safety and health standards

Your profile

Your profile:

- Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or Biology with a specialization in bioprocessing

  • A minimum 3 years of relevant postgraduation experience
  • Solid knowledge in bioprocessing with previous handson experience in operating benchscale bioreactors under batch, fedbatch and/or continuous cultivation mode
  • Knowledge of molecular biology, microbial physiology, design of experiments, and throughput screening techniques would be an advantage
  • Previous industrial experience would be an advantage
  • Good handson laboratory skills
  • Excellent command of aseptic culturing techniques and handson experience in handling microorganisms
  • Knowledge of offline analytical instrumentation
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Good computer software skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Detailoriented mindset with strong organizational skills
  • Team player and willing to actively engage with other functional groups
