IATA's Sustainability and Economics division works with airlines, regulators, and civil society to develop and implement policies, standards, and solutions that support the sustainable development of air transport and mitigate its impact on the environment.

What your day would be like


Lead the Policy Team to drive IATA advocacy campaigns aimed at influencing global and regional policy in accordance with the interests of IATA's airline members.

Lead and coordinate participation of IATA's delegation in ICAO's Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), ensuring the airlines' interests are represented and considered in the standards and guidance developed by CAEP.

Drive IATA's advocacy campaigns aimed at influencing policy to accelerate the commercial deployment of SAF, including global acceptance of a book & claim SAF accounting system.

Develop and implement policy positions and strategies on relevant environmental and sustainability issues.

Review and improve existing SAF technical, sustainability and deployment guidance documents, in coordination with the Fuel team and other relevant entities (ATAG, CAAFI, etc.).

Deliver content at the Aviation Energy Forum and other IATA environment/sustainability events.
Perform research and data analysis to guide advocacy efforts.
Develop guidance material from SAF policy analysis and research.
Develop and maintain IATA's global road map to Net Zero 2050

Effectively communicate with member airlines for the dissemination of relevant information, ensuring IATA members are timely informed of relevant regulatory requirements and aware of key policy developments.

Deliver presentations and develop material for internal and external capacity building workshops.
Represent the interests of member airlines in technical meetings, consultations, and industry events.

A postgraduate degree in a discipline that will support your contribution to the team, as well as significant experience working with national, regional, and/or international regulatory bodies

Key assets are:
Strong exposure to climate policy development, including international standard-setting procedures and working mechanisms.
Good understanding of technical and sustainability aspects of SAF; and
Working experience in an advocacy-related position, especially in relation to the environment.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
You can work under pressure on multiple tasks, producing high quality output to tight deadlines and with changing priorities.

You have excellent stakeholder management skills, the ability to collaborate with people in a multicultural environment in different regions, and an aptitude at balancing diverging views and building consensus.

Travel Required: 30
