Role Summary


We are offering an attractive position for a scientist with a strong technical background and hands-on experience in biochemical analytical development to join our External Capabilities Department located in Lucerne/Schachen, Switzerland.


Responsibilities and Primary Activities:

  • Manage relationships with external analytical partners across Europe and evaluate vendor performance
  • Collaborate with external analytical partners to provide analytical capabilities and capacity to support our Company's internal research and development programs
  • Partner with our Company's analytical and process teams to coordinate the outsourcing of analytical testing and development of analytical methodology
  • Provide technical and QC oversight and troubleshoot analytical issues with external vendors, engaging the internal analytical development teams where needed
  • Develop the analytical strategies and manage all analytical deliverables for given program(s) in a matrix team environment
  • Execute analytical method qualifications and transfers between MSD sites and CROs
  • Write technical protocols, reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), etc.
  • Track project timelines and external work
  • Track and summarize external data for our Company's project teams
  • Present our Company's teams with progress at regular program meetings
  • Ensure high quality documentation and analytical results from the external entity
  • Effectively communicate and manage atypical and out of specification test results according to the appropriate departmental procedures

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Master with 5+ years of relevant Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Ph.
D. in Biochemistry/Chemistry/Biological Sciences with 3+ working experience

  • Effective communication and leadership skills in a dynamic environment
  • Strong knowledge of biologics CMC requirements and experience in supporting health authority filings
  • Demonstrated capabilities in project management
  • Managing analytical projects in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry under GMP regulations
  • Experience with a wide variety of methods, including biochemical, biophysical and biological activity assays
  • Demonstrated track record of working across networks both internally and externally
  • Travel (Domestic and International) up to 10% of time.

Preferred:

  • Managing external vendors and budget planning

Our Werthenstein BioPharma site in Schachen is where we conduct cutting-edge research, develop and analyze new biological agents, produce new products and supply clinical trial products for global clinical studies.

The site is also home to one of our global forensic laboratories where we carefully monitor our products through the supply chain to ensure security and safety for our patients.
