Since 2013, Smith & Smith has been shaking up the classic Swiss wine scene. "Smith lives
wine" is our credo, and we really want to live up to it. We like to be rather analog over digital
and to have a close and personal contact with our clients: our calendar is full of dozens of
tastings, events, wine and dines, symposiums, and more. Based in Zurich, we have grown
continuously to be one of the leading wine merchants and agents in the country. We work in
all sectors of the market, with a strong focus on restaurants and hoteliers. Our private
customers can visit us in one of our three stores, and we have partnered merchants in all
regions of Switzerland. Our product portfolio is unbeatable in terms of diversity. We cover
more than 120 producers, everything from classic brands to iconic natural wines to
customized labels to specialties such as sake, cider, and more, and we run our own fine
wine department.

For our Fine Wine Department, we are looking from June 2023 or by agreement for a
person who is

RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF OUR FINE WINE PORTFOLIO (Full-Time)

What are your superpowers? Your blood type is practically wine, and educationally, you are
at home in the gastronomy and/or back-office areas. You also have further education in the
field of wine, such as WSET Level 3 or higher. Furthermore, you have excellent knowledge
of fine and rare wines, especially in the classic wine regions like Burgundy, Bordeaux,
Champagne, Tuscany, and Piemonte. You have good IT skills, and you negotiate without
any problems in English, French, and/or German. Ideally, you've already worked in a similar
function and already have an international network of sellers and buyers of fine and rare
wines in the trade as well as private collections.

Core duties

  • Estimating and purchasing fine wines from private and institutional suppliers
  • Collecting fine wine purchases from private cellars (driver's license)
  • Detect counterfeits—expertise in analyzing bottles
  • Checking the quality, condition, and authenticity of fine wine purchases
  • Calculating sales prices
  • Creating offers and newsletters for private, HORECA, and business clients
  • Training sales and office staff on fine wines
  • Regular stock takes
