The Executive Director, Pharma MS&T will be a key member of the Pharma ExM and MS&T Leadership team, and a key contributor to the success of the Pharma Operating Unit (POU).
The Executive Director, through leadership of a global team of scientists and engineers, will have technical accountability and stewardship for the BMS portfolio of pharma products to assure supply to patients.
This broadly includes:
- Partnering with Process Development (PD) to build the technical capabilities in POU to realize our pipeline and to ensure successful commercialization of the development portfolio
- Assuring uninterrupted supply to patients by execution of robustness assessment and improvement programs
- Continuous improvement projects, including yield improvement, continuous process verification for products ensuring supply risk reduction
- Investigation and resolution of deviations
- Providing leadership for commercial technical transfer projects and management of significant process changes
- Building best practices and skills within the MS&T organization to execute on our pipeline and commercial portfolio
The role is also required to provide leadership in the development and execution of MS&T strategy for the commercial portfolio.
This role has overall science and technical accountability for the BMS pharma portfolio, managing a team across at multiple global locations, supporting both internal and external manufacturing.
A critical deliverable will be to develop and motivate a team of highly capable, experienced SMEs and leaders to support the mission of POU in addition to prioritizing available resources, balancing the urgent and the important activities, such that we can continually manage and reduce any process, technical or performance contribution risk to the ongoing supply of our products to patients.
Key job responsibilities:
- Development and execution of strategy for MS&T pharma portfolio with an eye on overall business deliverables.
- Organizational leadership to all MS&T employees, across the World, including coaching and career development opportunities as needed
- Trusted, vocal and collaborative partner in the Pharma ExM and MS&T LT and an advisor to POU in matters related to, but not exclusive, the MS&T business
- Constant focus on proactive mitigation of all supply risks, through robustness monitoring and improvement
- Partner with PD to deliver the commercial portfolio, including filing strategies and specification setting for RSMs through to finished product. Represent MS&T and commercial manufacturing operations at critical decision points in the pipeline review process.
- Support site selection decisions, covering technical and process aspects.
- Overall technical responsibility for all BMS pharma products, manufactured both internally and externally, ensuring continued process performance within appropriate specification ranges
- Overall responsibility for managing and maintaining an appropriate level of Product Robustness for the commercial pharma product portfolio, including a process for monitoring of trend analysis and contributing to overall CPV requirements
- Act as a mentor or consultant in POU and R&D/ PD in areas of pharma product development and commercial manufacturing processes and technologies.
- Ensure that current knowledge of developments and innovation in pharma processes, and associated disciplines is maintained within the team.
- Liaise with peers across POU, global MS&T function and PD to support product launch and collaborate on global standards.
