In its first five years, PalaCinema Locarno SA has focused on promoting its facility (PalaCinema) as a venue for educational activities, movie watching, cultural and commercial events of various types, and as office space for organizations working in the movie and audio-visual industry.

Today, the PalaCinema hosts the offices of the Locarno Film Festival and Ticino Film Commission, the headquarters of CISA - International Conservatory of Audio-visual Science, SUPSI, which performs activities related to the audio-visual sector and EnjoyARENA that manages the PalaCinema's movie theatres and related programming as well as the restaurant area.

After this initial phase, PalaCinema Locarno SA plans on working to strengthen its position within the national and cantonal cultural framework, while at the same time, promoting its role as an audio-visual cultural centre.

Specifically, it plans to further promote the collaboration with the organizations and businesses already present at the PalaCinema and extend it to other providers in the audio-visual sector.

It also intends to promote its own cultural activities in the fields of art movie programming and educational activities, as well as expanding existing services and available technical infrastructures.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement the strategy effectively with the aim of strengthening PalaCinema's positioning.
• Continuously expand said strategy in agreement with the Board of Directors.
• Manage the PalaCinema, and specifically:
• maintain the relationship and collaboration with the parties already present at the PalaCinema and with prospective participants in the development of the PalaCinema as an audio-visual cultural centre (partners, organizations, entities, associations and providers in the audio-visual sector);

- develop, plan and coordinate the cultural activities and services offered at the PalaCinema;
- plan, develop and manage human, financial and infrastructure resources;
- coordinate marketing and communication activities in support of PalaCinema, its activities and cultural events, including development of access strategies and strategies regarding search for sponsors and funding.

The director will work closely and jointly with the Board of Directors. He/she will also collaborate with the Administration of the Municipality of Locarno.

Professional Profile

• Education
• University degree in humanities with added specialization / experience in management _or_ university degree in socioeconomic or management studies with added specialization / experience in the movie or audiovisual sector.
• An undergraduate university degree with a cultural management licence or master's degree, preferably in the movie or audiovisual sector, will be considered as preferred qualification.
• In the absence of a university degree, proven professional experience in the aforementioned fields will be considered for eligibility.
• Management Experience
• Proven experience in leading and managing cultural organizations, preferably in the movie or audiovisual sector or otherwise appropriate to the function.
• Proven management and supervisory abilities, specifically in the financial and administrative fields.
• Proven experience managing and organizing a work team.
• Excellent knowledge of the national and international film and audiovisual cultural scene and related experience as proven by the development of cultural mediation and/or development programs.
• Existing solid professional network with the ability of developing strategic partnerships both at a national and international level.
• Soft Skills
• Driven, creative and, at the same time, collaborative leadership.
• Great ease in both oral and written communication with excellent social skills and representation abilities.
• Responsible, rigorous, trustworthy and flexible, with an innovative spirit, analytical skills, strategic and synthetic thinking, and solutiondriven pragmatism.
• Languages
• Solid knowledge of the Italian and English languages, both oral and written.
• Knowledge of at least one more national language (German/French).

The starting date is scheduled on a date to be agreed, with preference from June 2023.
