YOUR PROFILE

As the Theatre Technician, you will be at the heart of our dynamic Arts programme, providing essential technical and stage management support for all performance spaces.

This is a 50 % part-time role where you will be responsible for the setup and operation of lighting, sound, and multimedia equipment during productions, as well as overseeing the Beau Soleil student tech team.

Additionally, you will manage stage setups, including sourcing and creating props, and ensure the smooth running and maintenance of all performance spaces and its equipment.

Your role will also involve training the student tech team on a weekly basis during term time, maintaining high standards of Health and Safety for theatre equipment, and being available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

This position requires a balance of technical and creative skills, excellent communication and organisational abilities, and a passion for working with young people in an educational setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical and stage management support for all Theatre and Dance events.
• Set up and operate lighting, sound, and multimedia equipment during productions, or oversee the Beau Soleil student tech team.
• Manage stage setup for all school/theatre department productions, including sourcing and creating props.
• Train the student tech team weekly during term time.
• Maintain the performance spaces, and manage its equipment.
• Ensure all theatre equipment meets Health and Safety standards and complete necessary checks.
• Serve as the main contact for external speakers/events needing technical equipment.
• Coordinate theatre bookings and maintain a central calendar.
• Be available to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• A 'régisseur technique de spectacle' professional qualification or any relevant qualifications
• Uptodate knowledge of lighting systems, control apparatus, and digital audiovisual equipment.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience as a theatre technician, preferably in a school or university setting.
• Experience in teaching is an asset.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• A balance of technical and creative skills with a sound understanding of Design Technology and an interest in Art and Design.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, selfmotivation, initiative, and flexibility.
• Confidence in working at heights and the ability to do so safely.
• Good working knowledge of IT.
• Able to work in English and French.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Eagerness to be part of a growing and motivated team dedicated to developing the Arts at Beau Soleil.
