Director, ESG Performance & Operations (M/F/d)

Role Purpose:


The Director, ESG Performance & Operations leads and acts as custodian of the Bayer Sustainability Strategy across the Bayer Consumer Health worldwide business, and works closely with all Functions, Categories and Regions to support and accelerate the implementation of Bayer sustainability goals.

Leads overall sustainability strategic and operational progress as F2W 2.0 accelerator of Bayer Consumer Health business worldwide.

Ensure global strategic and operational excellence in sustainability high standard execution with focus on all global and regions.


Defines, Creates, and drives a long-term global strategy to drive sustainability Engagement among all BCH employees to ensure that there is a Sustainability Culture, awareness and mindset in every BCH business initiative created and implemented worldwide.

Drives sustainability narrative externally with main global stakeholders.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensure long term sustainability plan and progress as F2W 2.0 accelerator of our business.


Work as a leader with a wide diversity of selected Functions, Categories and Regions to support them in shaping and implementing their respective Sustainability Operating Plans, tracking against 2030 sustainability Goals and BCH path to BEST.


This includes:

  • Deliver and provide high expert advice to evolve next phases of their Operational Business Plans and objectives,
  • Leads and act as key business partner to support for disciplined execution of Op Plan priorities, 3) Defines and track the evolution and measuring, and communicating progress and performance on each Op Plan,
  • Foster synergies between regional / functional Op Plans priorities to bring teams together behind fewer bigger initiatives with accelerated impact.
  • Ensures flawless high standard implementation and excellence in Sustainability Execution with focus on key markets. Act as a key strategic business partner with regional sustainability leads, guiding them through their strategy (sustainability Operating Plan) set up and execution. Engage also with each sub regional cluster / workstream lead as appropriate to inform on content and execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure clarity on strategic and tactics of detailed Regional Op Plan, including the what and the how, and how we will track / measure progress
- provide sustainability expertise support to ensure executional excellence and healthy progress against plan, including escalation of key barriers, with particular focus on consumer and customer facing sustainability initiatives executions (brand purpose activations, customer engagement)

  • Lead on consistent tracking of progress
  • Leverage success for continuous internal best practice sharing and showcase across regions and functions, including building replicable best practices.
  • Leads the clear definition and execution of annual Regional President Awards with these key regions.
  • Defines, creates and drives a long-term global strategy to drive sustainability Engagement among BCH employees to ensure that there is a Sustainability Culture, awareness and mindset in every BCH business initiative created and implemented worldwide. Define and lead execution of a division wide sustainability employee engagement master plan. The incumbent of this role s objective is to provide education, inspiration, and practical call to action to get all employees excited and engaged with BCH sustainability Strategy and its role as an FTW Accelerator.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define and drive comprehensive framework and plan with steady cadence of communications, trainings, and initiatives throughout the year.
  • Execute plan, making sure to collaborate with other functions and regions to orchestrate responsibilities, cocreate content, ensure consistency in framing with other CH sustainability programs, and drive dissemination of content across the whole organization.
  • Measure and track engagement levels and continuously drive for improvement.
  • Drive our sustainability narrative externally with main global stakeholders, to raise awareness of our strategy/progress and to invite greater collaboration.
