IT Product Owner

Main Purpose:
We are looking for an experienced IT Product Owner to manage logistics product backlogs for an in-house built application in the Oil, Metals, and Minerals Commodities Trading sector. The ideal candidate will align the product backlog with organizational goals, assess business cases for change, and perform business requirements analysis. Additionally, they will support delivery teams in developing functional requirements and designs.

Moreover, the Product Owner may also act as an Initiative IT Lead, overseeing major initiatives to ensure successful implementation.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Domain Expertise: Profound knowledge of physical commodity trading terms, trade lifecycle, and more.
  • Technical Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with technical developers and translate complex business concepts.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in business analysis, product management, or product ownership in a commercial setting.
  • Process Improvement: Skill in analyzing business practices, identifying areas for improvement, and gaining approval from senior stakeholders.
  • UX: Strong understanding of UX principles for optimal product design and user experience.
  • Methodologies: Familiarity with agile software development and business process mapping.
  • Self-Management: Ability to prioritize and plan activities across multiple project work streams.
  • ETRM/CTRM Experience: Background in ETRM/CTRM implementation, design, or configuration is a plus.
  • Supply Chain Tools Experience: Experience with supply chain management tools is advantageous.

  • Backlog and Roadmap Management: Prioritize the product roadmap according to business priorities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strong relationships with business stakeholders as the main liaison.
  • Initiative Leadership: Act as an Initiative IT Lead for significant projects across departments and regions.
  • Business Requirements Analysis: Lead the gathering of business requirements.
  • Solution Design Support: Work with teams to shape solution designs.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct preliminary testing and support quality assurance.
  • Change Management: Assist in preparing stakeholders for process changes and provide support for production issues.
