The Monitoring the Effectiveness of Habitat Conservation in Switzerland (WBS) is a long-term monitoring of biotopes of national importance which started in 2011.

The aim of the WBS is to measure, evaluate and explain changes in biotopes of national importance. Within the framework of the WBS, large quantities of data are collected annually in the biotopes of national importance. Remote sensing methods and field surveys (vegetation, amphibians) are used. Over 6,000 vegetation records are collected during each 6-year survey cycle.

In the context of this position, you will analyse the collected vegetation data with regard to relevant changes and their causes, publish the results in scientific and outreach journals and contribute to and take responsibility for various other activities of the WBS (e.g. preparation for field work, quality control, data processing).

Vegetation surveys throughout Switzerland in peatlands, flood-plains and dry meadows and pastures of national importance can also be part of your tasks.
