ROLE SUMMARY:

Our school was founded in September 2014 as part of the ISE network of schools, spanning Italy and Switzerland. The school has had year on year growth, and now has 270 students across the age range of 3-18. In January 2021 the International School of Ticino became the only IB continuum school in the area and had our first DP class graduate in July 2023 with a high value added. Our cohort this summer looks set to achieve a high average score, with university admission process for Cambridge held, and entrance confirmed to Universities such as Bocconi, Lausanne and other leading institutions. The school is one of several very successful Swiss and Italian schools belonging to Inspired, a worldwide network of premium schools offering global best practice and professional development.

The International School of Ticino seeks an experienced and enthusiastic EY teacher to join our small team of dedicated and reflective practitioners. The successful candidate will begin their contract at the end of August 2024.

The Early Years curriculum is founded on the belief that all children are naturally curious and disposed to learning. They are creative, imaginative, energetic and resourceful. The focus of the curriculum aims to capitalise on these natural dispositions by providing meaningful, authentic activities in which children can become absorbed, committed and successful.

Our school was founded in September 2014 as part of the ISE network of schools, spanning Italy and Switzerland. The school has had year on year growth, and now has approximately 270 students across the age range of 3-18. We have one class in each grade level.

In 2018 the International School of Ticino became an IB world school and the only accredited PYP school in the area. Accreditation as an IB continuum school, offering the MYP and DP was awarded in January 2021.

IST has now had two graduating IB Diploma classes, with the students now moving to Universities across the globe.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

IST is looking for an EY teacher for our Transition class (4-5 year-olds). Candidates should have experience of collaboratively planning engaging units of learning that harness children's interests. They should have experience of teaching phonics and early literacy and mathematics. Experience with the IB PYP is preferable but not necessary. Commitment to children's wellbeing, high standards of learning outcomes and working with families to nurture children's development are essential. Fluency in Italian is an advantage.

We offer a permanent contract and our location offers the opportunity live on Lake Lugano in Switzerland or Lake Como in Italy.

We encourage early applications as interviews will be held on a rolling basis via Zoom and the school will appoint before the closing date if the right candidates are found.

Characteristics for IST applicants:

• to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an appropriate teaching qualification;

• to have had recent, demonstrable experience teaching primary within the 3-6 age range;

• to be an enthusiastic and passionate teacher with a love of teaching and the ability to convey this successfully to students and families;

• to be a team player and committed to the development of yourself and the students at IST;

• to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables you to work in Switzerland.

• Previous experience with IB programmes is preferred but not necessary. Further IB training will be offered, together with relocation assistance.
