Role Summary:

The Legal Counsel is responsible for providing appropriate and responsive legal support and advice to the Company globally on various legal matters, particularly in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts, both domestically and internationally. This role requires a strong business focus and a knack for practical problem-solving, all while upholding the Company's core ethics, culture, and principles of integrity.

Legal Counsel

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate different types of agreements, from standard to complex, including commercial contracts like tenders, distribution agreements, service contracts, vendor agreements, and more;
  • Create and maintain standard sales contracts for all supported markets;
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across Masimo for contract reviews and approvals;
  • Identify legal risks and suggest risk mitigation strategies;
  • Assist the Company with compliance matters, particularly anti-corruption and data privacy;
  • Offer legal support to various business units within Masimo, including sales, marketing, supply chain, engineering, and more;
  • Supervise and manage outside legal counsel, when needed;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations;
  • Support special projects in areas like intellectual property, compliance, and competition law

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Law or equivalent required to practice law in Europe or a European country;
  • Three years of in-house legal experience or a combination of in-house and reputable law firm experience;
  • Significant experience in contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiation;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and efficiently;
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude;
  • Organized with keen attention to detail;
  • Results-oriented and able to handle multiple assignments under tight deadlines;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with data protection and privacy laws, including GDPR;
  • Experience in regulated industries like medical devices, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals;
  • Understanding of competition law;
  • Familiarity with laws applicable to medical technology companies such as FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and more;
  • Fluency in multiple languages like German, Spanish, and French;
  • Experience managing external legal counsel
