Company Description


Gruner Stucky, to support the development and the growth of the Underground Space Department is hiring new motivated engineers, that will be included in a dynamic and multidisciplinary Company already working on some of the most important and challenge international civil projects.


Job Description:

These Engineers have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • acting as Tunneling Projects Team Leader or Project Manager, in the design of important projects from feasibility through to the detailed design and construction phase,
- preparing design and technical documents, for example Design Criteria, Detailed Design reports and calculations, Project Specifications, Methods Statements, etc.,
- designing all the aspects of tunneling and/or geotechnical projects, for example temporary supports and permanent structures for tunnels and portals, excavations supports, grouting curtains or soil improvements solutions, support walls and similar works,
- effectively leading the engineers and draftsmen team and checking the drawings,
- cooperating in the development of technical proposals during tender phase, both for infrastructures and hydropower plants projects,
- willing to travel for short missions abroad, for site visits or meetings, and if necessary for longer mission abroad.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • ETH or Master of Science in Civil / Structural or Geotechnical Engineering,
  • Proven work experience as Tunnel Team Leader or Project Manager,
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the coordination and design of tunneling works in infrastructures or hydropower plants domains,
  • An indepth university knowledge of NATM/SEM/TBM excavation techniques and/or geotechnical works,
  • Numerical competences with the most common software for tunneling and/or for geotechnical engineering (RS2, Plaxis, Flac, etc.),
  • Good verbal & written communication skills in English, French or Italian are a plus,
  • Experiences in international projects and/or in projects with major contractors would be an advantage,
  • Energetic, resilient, and proactive approach to the work, able to work also in strict timelines,
  • Flexible and passionate interest to cooperate in multidiscipline teams and to acquire new skills and knowledges,
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
