The Role


The primary focus of this position is the efficient and diligent operation of the jewellery & watches vaults on a daily basis, with a meticulous approach to property & inventory control, handling, packing and policy compliance.

This is a full time position on a temporary contract until July 2023.

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the vaults
  • Conduct the daily opening and closing procedures of the vaults and comply with all security requirements
  • Accurately record and reconcile incoming and outgoing items to and from the vaults
  • Organize the storage of the watches and jewels inside the vaults
  • Conduct weekly inventory of jewels and watches in the vaults
  • Perform physical inventory of jewels and watches if necessary
  • Ensure proper care and handling of jewels & watches
  • Fulfil business requirement to move property safely and securely between department and photography studios
  • Provide logístical support for specialists during cataloguing and presale lotting up
  • Accompany our security guard to our jeweler for repairs and unmounting requests before, during and after our sales
  • Take care of internal movements of properties for photography before the sales
  • Liaise with key stakeholders (photographers, specialist departments, third party suppliers and restorers) to ensure all items are photgraphed for the catalogue / online sale and are ready for client's viewing
  • Packing jewels before the sale to go to laboratories
  • Set up and dismantle exhibitions during our sales weeks
  • Handle unmounting request documentation
  • Responsible for lot collection by clients
  • Support shipping department for post sale shipments: handling & packing of watches and jewels for export
  • Comply at all times with Christie's policies on data protection & client confidentiality
  • Other tasks as assigned by line Manager / Head of Sale Management
  • Fluent in French & English
  • Demonstrate excellent proactivity, organisation, Communication skills and discretion
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity
  • Must have (or will be trained) to provide art handling expertise for Jewellery & Watches
  • Proven time/task management

  • Proficient in using MS Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, with some weekend work required to meet the needs of the business
