  • MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Volleyball Coach within the Extracurricular department.

You will be responsible for promoting player growth, fostering teamwork, and preparing the team for competitive tournaments.

This role requires a commitment to developing players' skills and enthusiasm for the sport while ensuring a positive and engaging environment.

This role requires working approximately 2-4 hours per week in the afternoons, with a flexible schedule based on team needs and tournament demands.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and conduct volleyball practice sessions focusing on skill development, strategy, and physical conditioning.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes among players.
  • Develop and implement effective coaching techniques and strategies for individual and team improvement.
  • Prepare the team for participation in tournaments and other competitive events.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of each player and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all players during practices and games.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure it is used responsibly.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all players.
  • Prepare the team for participation in local, regional, and national tournaments.
  • Coordinate with the extracurricular department to manage tournament logistics, including travel, accommodations, and scheduling.
  • Analyse team performance in games and practices to make strategic adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, player statistics, and equipment inventory.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, and the extracurricular department regarding schedules, expectations, and team events.
  • Ensure all practices and games adhere to the school's policies and safety guidelines.
Skills and competencies

  • Previous experience coaching volleyball at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire players.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Availability to work in the afternoons, with flexibility to meet team needs.
