Mainframes Architect

Introduction

As an IBM Z Client Architect within IBM you'll lead the definition and architecture of end-to-end solutions that include the IBM Z platform.

Considered the go-to expert, you'll understand your client's broad technical strategy and challenges and will be able to eloquently articulate the benefit of IBM Z solutions that results in value optimization for them.

You'll advocate for clients and guide technical teams to ensure planning, builds and deployments run smoothly and delight customers.

Your Role and Responsibilities

With your focus on the front-end of the solution lifecycle, you'll be a master at listening to stakeholders, grasping their business challenges and requirements, and forming more detailed definitions of new architectural structures that will make up their best-fit, value adding solutions.

To help ensure this win-win outcome, a 'day-in-the life' of this role may include, but not be limited to:

• Understanding the client's business problems and objectives, helping them fully realize the value of IBM Z platform that will fulfill their needs.
• Defining the structures of the solution and creating the endtoend architecture leveraging IBM Z, addressing client business problems and strategy.
• Ensuring the viability of the proposed architecture, conducting solution assurance assessments.
• Identifying and mitigating potential risks to the success of the project, mediating proactively resolutions to project conflict.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Proven experience in defining of the structures of a solution to a business problem and creating its architectures.
• Demonstrable expertise in using formal methods to guide and drive the development of solutions, the management of your work and the production of your deliverables.
• Handson full lifecycle architectural experience which enables you to produce solution designs that are truly viable and that can be successfully constructed, implemented, operated, and managed.
• Outstanding leadership and communication skills that will help you build strong relationships with key stakeholders, both externally and internally within IBM, through effective listening and candid communication.
• Very good English Skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Knowledge of IBM Z and how it fits in the Digital Transformation.
• Knowledge of IBM Z software solutions.
• Knowledge of IBM LinuxONE platform.
