Responsibilities:

The Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS Secretariat) brings together the three leading multilateral environmental agreements that share the common objective of protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals and wastes.


This consultancy is within the scope of further actions to address electronic and electrical waste (e-waste), under the programme "Awareness raising and implementing of E-wastes Amendments on global, regional and national levels", PoW 14, 27, 32, Articles 4, 6, 9, 10, 13 and 16 of the Basel Convention, BC-15/18 on Amendments to Annexes II, VIII and IX to the Basel Convention.

Under the supervision of the Programme Officer(s), the consultant will perform the following tasks:

  • Review and provide comments on three video scripts provided by the BRS Secretariat, showcasing the corresponding winning entries of the BRS Secretariat's "E-waste: what's it to you?" competition.
  • Based on the final agreed upon video scripts, produce three animated videos of approximately three minutes each.
  • If needed, edit aforementioned videos in accordance with comments provided by the BRS Secretariat by 31 May 2023.
Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in the field of communication, audiovisual production, animation or similar field is required.

A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible working experience in the field of audiovisual production is required, including at least two years of relevant experience in the field of animation.

Working experience in the United Nations or similar international organizations is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For this position, fluency in English is required. Fluency in another UN official language is desirable.
