Researcher in Healthcare Management/Economics

The Job's Mission
This is a project-based role where the researcher will conduct research for the project 'Leveraging the experience from two Swiss hospitals to understand healthcare financing nuances: A project to inform regulators, insurance companies, and hospitals.'

The aim of this project is to use exclusive data from two Swiss hospitals to gain a deeper understanding of healthcare financing intricacies. The intention is to assist practitioners and regulators in addressing issues related to healthcare services financing. This project is conducted under the auspices of E4S and is a collaboration between IMD, the University of Lausanne, and the University Hospital Bern.

The researcher will be involved in developing and executing innovative and pertinent research for the upcoming years, which may entail designing studies, creating research methodologies, developing surveys, processing and analyzing data, and producing academic and practitioner-focused articles, reports, case studies, and literature reviews. Additionally, the researcher will aid in integrating/transferring research insights into IMD programs, engagement platforms, and events.

Key Deliverables
The expected result of the project is a model that appeals to academics (making it suitable for publication in specialized journals), healthcare providers (such as hospitals), and practitioners, offering solutions to financing and delivering preventive care.

The project aims to produce cases, white papers, or other materials that bring the reality of healthcare financing and value-based care closer to managers and business leaders.

Ideal Profile

  • We seek an explorer eager to conduct field research to uncover hidden insights through interviews, desk research, and basic data analysis.
  • A proactive and hands-on individual capable of working independently in a diverse environment.
  • Driven by a desire to comprehend the complexities of healthcare financing and extract relevant insights that benefit society.
  • Ability to embrace uncertainty.
  • Minimum of a master's degree in healthcare management/economics or related fields (pertinent to the project's focus).
  • Interest in academic research.
  • Familiarity with quantitative or qualitative research methods.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Swiss hospital sector.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative and adept at operating in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Focused on meeting deadlines and achieving results.
  • Capable of performing well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) at a native level or equivalent. Knowledge of German and/or French is desirable.

Contract Information:

  • Application Deadline: 21 June 2024
  • Location: Hybrid role based in Switzerland, with periodic meetings in Lausanne and Bern. We provide flexibility to accommodate various schedules and locations within Switzerland.
  • Contract Type: 1-year Fixed-Term with potential for extension subject to available funding.
