The Wyss Center is an independent, non-profit research and development organization that advances our understanding of the brain to realize therapies and improve lives.

The Wyss Center staff, together with the Center's academic, clinical and industrial collaborators, pursue innovations and new approaches in neurobiology, neuroimaging and neurotechnology.


Wyss Center advances reveal unique insights into the mechanisms underlying the dynamics of the brain and the treatment of disease to accelerate the development of devices and therapies for unmet medical needs.

The Center was established by a generous donation from the Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist Hansjörg Wyss in 2014. Additional resources from funding agencies and other sources help the Wyss Center accelerate its mission.

About the Position
The individual will report to the Center's Senior Neuroscientist.

Key responsibilities

In their position, the Machine Learning Scientistwill:

  • Provide insights on human electrophysiological data.
  • Design and implement stateoftheart realtime decoding solutions and optimize them.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers for deployment and testing.
  • Implement and validate novel research ideas quickly and efficiently.
  • Contribute to improving BCI paradigms and protocols.
  • Publish and present the results at scientific meetings.
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and developments in the field.

Required competence and experience:

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science/relevant field, or 4+ years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Python, solid knowledge in C/C++ languages.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience in applied machine learning for decoding movement or speech electrophysiological data.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix systems and command line operations.
  • Fast learner, enthusiastic, ability to mentor peers.
  • High sense of responsibility combined with a good team spirit.
  • Fluent in English, proficiency in French is a plus.
