This job posting is a rare opportunity for a highly-qualified senior technical professional in the top location of Zurich. If your expertise and experience includes ACP, you and Avaloq could be the perfect match. You will be part of Credit Core, a highly interesting and challenging team – credit functionalities cover not just pure processing of transactions, but also embrace business use cases and algorithms. Our business analysts have extensive experience in business and are happy to support you by contributing business background and knowledge whenever needed.

As our core product has matured, the demands on our team have changed. We are facing more and more challenges in end-to-end tasks and assignments, which make our professional experience and expertise is indispensable. Our solutions and decisions enable us to leverage our regional communities around the world.

API‘s and data-export technologies, which make our functionalities available in other systems, involve different tech stacks. The company has some very interesting projects in the pipeline, where Core knowledge and expertise will be vital.

We’re a small team comprising three software engineers, one tech lead, two business analysts, a product owner and our line manager. The business and management roles are located at our Zurich headquarters, while software development is mostly based in our Madrid office. We also work with our regions across the world, with colleagues in Germany, the Philippines and Singapore.

We are the owners all of the core components in the field of credit (initiation, operation and risk) and are responsible for the ABR/S Global baseline for credit. Our community-APIs are mostly generated using the DEVBOOSTER that we developed within our team, and we own a microservice that exposes the credit risk pillar data on RESTful API’s. Our core functionalities such as the financing engine, loan and limit business types, which are tried and tested in production, ensure that bank-critical operations are robust and reliable. Requests for enhancements still come in and, of course, a certain amount of maintenance is required.

We are close to our clients and communicate with them directly whenever needed or helpful. We work closely with other specialist teams as well as with overarching roles such as project managers or key account management. We play an active part in software-solution discussions in the ABR/S Design Authority, and we work with our architects to devise the most suitable solutions.

About you

As this is a high-level and wide-ranging position, there are almost endless possibilities for you to make it your own. Whether you want to acquire a great breadth of knowledge and apply it effectively to many areas; whether you prefer to specialize in specific functionalities or technologies; or whether you see yourself more as an orchestrator and expert in the various software layers, it is largely up to you to shape the role. Your key tasks

  • Drive the design of new product features and functionality in conjunction with business analysts, product owners, software architects and fellow developers
  • Expand Avaloq’s standard product offering
  • Analyse and implement client requirements including automated testing
  • Maintain of existing functionality
  • Provide support to team stakeholders and other development teams
  • Several years of work experience involving exposure to the Avaloq environment either within Avaloq itself, at a bank operating ACP, in the Avaloq community or in a project
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle database technologies (SQL, PL/SQL) and a proven record of applying those technologies in enterprise-scale projects
  • A university degree in computer science, business informatics, computer engineering, electronic engineering or equivalent experience
  • Solid experience in software engineering and developing complex applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to think abstractly 
  • Open-minded, team-oriented and a communicative personality
  • An eagerness to learn and understand the business needs with the aim of providing the best solutions for our business area
  • Strong written and spoken English language skills

It would be a real bonus if you have

  • Experience in the banking industry in the field of credit and loans
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot and/or microservices
  • German language skills
