Defectivity Applications Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist or engineer to lead the UNISERS applications development team in Zurich. The Defectivity Applications Manager will work closely with the CEO and Head of Sales to develop and deliver solutions based on customer needs.  The candidate must be highly organized, with the ability to prioritize workload for the team with deliverables. This role's scope and impact offers the opportunity to influence the success of a young and rapidly-growing startup company.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS 

  • Grow a team of scientists responsible for developing new capabilities and growing UNISERS business.  
  • Work closely with the software and hardware development managers to communicate and prioritize feature development requirements.  
  • Design and run experiments for new hardware and software testing, meeting customer quality expectations.  
  • Work with the sales and customer support teams to understand customer needs, prioritize applications development projects, present results from customer experiments and deliver high-quality solutions to grow UNISERS business.   
  • Organize and prioritize the team’s workload. Balance the team’s delivery of new capabilities with the running of customer samples to support sales. 
  • Keep yourself and the team up to date with the latest trends and developments in small particle detection and identification. Develop a shared learning communication platform for applications engineers within UNISERS located in multiple geographic regions. 
  • Challenge the status quo to strive for improvements that add value. 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of working experience or master's degree and 12+ years of working experience or doctorate and 10+ years of working experience in Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field. 
  • Broad and deep experience with all kinds of analytical methods for nanoparticles and surfaces. 
  • Expertise leading a cross-cultural team in semiconductor defect review, semiconductor-grade high-purity material testing, or application development for semiconductor R&D. 
  • Experience influencing industry trends through work with organizations like SEMI or IMEC. 
  • Fluency in English and German is advantageous.

ABOUT UNISERS 

UNISERS AG is a young start-up from ETH Zurich with revolutionary technology to tackle the biggest challenge in the semiconductor industry: namely, contamination control. Our patented products have been validated to tremendously help the whole semiconductor supply chain (components, materials, wafers, equipment, and chip fabs) with quality control by finding and identifying otherwise undetected or unknown contaminations. Therefore, we will help chip makers reduce the amount of wasted chips (often more than 50%), increasing their profit substantially and at the same time contributing to less waste and CO2 emissions. Having closed a 14 Mio $ seed investment round led by Intel Capital; we are scaling up our team to bring our unique technology to industry as fast as possible. We are located at Baslerpark in downtown Zurich with our own rapid-prototyping workshop, a clean room, laboratories and office space.
