IB Italian Language and Literature Teacher with the ability to teach acqusition German

The International school of Ticino is seeking to appoint a secondary Italian language and literature teacher with the ability to teach German language acquisition to join us for September 2024.

Candidates should be well qualified and experienced in the DP, or equivocal qualifications. The successful candidate should also be committed to high standards, interested in using innovative and inquiry-based approaches to learning and be enthusiastic about promoting international understanding. For the right candidate the role of head of maths would be a possibility.

OUR SCHOOL

Our school was founded in September 2014 as part of the ISE network of schools, spanning Italy and Switzerland. The school has had year on year growth, and now has 270 students across the age range of 3-18. In January 2021 the International School of Ticino became the only IB continuum school in the area and had our first DP class graduate in July 2023 with a high value added. Our cohort this summer looks set to achieve a high average score, with university admission process for Cambridge held, and entrance confirmed to Universities such as Bocconi, Lausanne and other leading institutions.

THE POSITION

The International school of Ticino is seeking to appoint a secondary Italian language and literature teacher with the ability to teach German language acquisition to join us for September 2024.

The ideal candidate would be excited by the opportunity to help continue to grow an IB school and experienced in teaching a range of ages and abilities across the entire secondary school age range (11-18 years).

The contract is a permanent contract and our location offers the opportunity liveon Lake Lugano in Switzerland or Lake Como in Italy.

Essential characteristics for IST applicants:

• to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject and an

appropriate teaching qualification;

• to have had recent, demonstrable experience teaching secondary within the 11-18 age range;

• to be an enthusiastic and passionate teacher with a love of teaching and the ability to convey this successfully to students;

• to be an EU passport holder or already be in possession of a valid visa that enables to work in Switzerland.

• Previous experience with IB programmes is required. Further IB training will be offered, together with relocation assistance.
