SUMMARY OF THE JOB 

At Holcim, we harness the power of data to drive forward our systems and supply-chain solutions from quarry to delivery. We're in search of an experienced data scientist who can leverage their expertise to provide invaluable business insights and utilize machine learning techniques to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in statistics and machine learning, coupled with a natural inclination towards curiosity and innovation.

In this role, the selected individual will be responsible for mining, interpreting, and refining our data, playing a pivotal role in asking the right questions, making connections, and uncovering hidden opportunities to fully maximize the potential of our data resources. Working alongside a team of data specialists, the data scientist will apply advanced techniques in data science, machine learning, and optimization to drive improvements in supply chain management and predictive analytics.

This position will encompass the entire lifecycle of data science projects, from initial prototyping to scaling solutions in cloud-based production environments.
 

MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Implement advanced statistical and machine learning models for optimizing supply chain management.
• Apply optimization methods to address scheduling challenges and simulate diverse delivery scenarios.
• Utilize data visualization techniques to gain insights into business workflows.
• Enhance data science solutions by integrating new machine learning algorithms, conducting feature engineering, and performing benchmarking.
• Develop machine learning solutions, from prototyping to production, at scale within AWS infrastructure.
• Document and communicate findings effectively with teams and stakeholders.
   

PROFILE REQUIRED 

Level of education/qualifications normally required: 

• Master degree or PhD on Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science or equivalent

Specific work experience: 

• Data science, Analytics (Python programming & python data science libraries)
• Optimization (Linear, MIP, Heuristic), Scheduling, Network Optimization (Python libraries)
• AWS Cloud
• Digitalization

Technical / functional skills: 

• Python, Jupyter notebook, ML python libraries, visualization using Python, AWS (Sagemaker)
• Familiar with Window, Linux
