Overall purpose of role

The role holder will be responsible for the end to end financial control and reporting for the Barclays Capital Zurich BBplc branch, incorporating local management, regulatory and tax reporting and Group reporting.

This is a broad generalist role providing support as well to BarSuisse to the Market Risk & Liquidity control manager, as well as the broader Financial Control team.

Core accountabilities

The role holder will have the following primary areas of accountability:

1.Accounting and month-end close

The role holder will manage the month-end close of the Barclays Bank plc Zurich branch including monitoring of operating expenses, payroll costs and intragroup arrangements, posting accruals, adjustments and ad hoc items as required. The role holder will also support on mirror accounts bookings and payroll for the main entity.

2.Management Reporting

The role holder will prepare the management pack, liaising with data providers to ensure it is completed on a timely basis, and providing insightful commentaries on significant variances

3.Statutory, Regulatory and Tax reporting

The role holder will support the Finance manager to ensure that all statistics are completed accurately and in accordance with strict deadlines to the Swiss National bank.

4.Market Risk & Liquidity Control

Completion of daily, weekly and monthly reporting on key market risks for the BarSuisse entity in an accurate and timely manner. This includes daily FX and Interest Rate VAR reporting and monitoring in line with strict limits.

5.Product Control

The role holder will perform daily and monthly reporting of FX, STEX and Treasury P&Ls in an accurate and timely manner, with comprehensive explanations for any large variances.

6.Change

The role holder will assess and test the impact of systems and regulatory change on the branch, specifically helping to embed the Coupa system and championing correct purchasing behaviours with the business. 

7.General tasks and team support

The role holder will support a variety of other activities across the finance team including management of intragroup payables/receivables, adhoc tasks and analysis, exceptional payments and providing cover for absences for other team members tasks.

Role requirements

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Professional/technical experience

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of standard banking products and Swiss accounting rules as well as Avaloq.

Academic and professional qualifications

The successful candidate will be a part-qualified / qualified accountant; or with equivalent work experience.

The ideal candidate should have advanced skills in Excel and basic knowledge of VBA.

Language skills

The successful candidate will have advanced spoken and written English; a working knowledge of French would be an advantage.

The right candidate will be a strong team player, a strong communicator across a wide spectrum of key clients internally and externally, will be able to work autonomously and manage their time and agenda to strict regulatory deadline
