Research Software Engineer

DIRAC AG is a specialist systems-development company in the radiocommunications and telephony industry. The company seeks to employ a Research Software Engineer to support to ongoing development of a new software-defined radio product.
You will become part of the core R&D team and contribute to the ongoing development of the system throughout its lifecycle, in particular:
- Development of software handling radio processing with SDRs (physical to network layers)
- Security analysis of contemporary radio systems and real-world testing
- Refinement of hardware design and system architecture
- Integration of software with system platform
- Testing and validation
- University Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics or similar.
- Research experience
- Good knowledge of high-performance C/C++ including threading/multi-processing
- Familiarity with software-development tools/practices (version control, issue tracking, distributed logging
- Comfort working with large code-bases and building atop open-source stacks
- Business-level proficiency in English
- Willingness to travel to test sites or other offices (infrequent, no weekend stays)
- Familiarity with software-defined radio equipment and signal-processing practices
- Knowledge of cellular/wireless communication (3G, 4G, 5G), radio frequency technology
- Knowledge of low-latency networking and processing (DPDK, isolcpus)
- Experience with Python
- Experience with MATLAB
- Proficiency in German and/or French
